Vinh Hua and Kiem Dang were one of many refugees from Vietnam who came to America in hopes of a better life and a brighter future for their 8 children.  In 1980, they arrived in Fort Smith and within 7 years were able to save enough to pursue their dream of being a business owner.  Taipei (the name harkening back to Vinh’s Taiwanese roots) was opened with Vinh and Kiem in the kitchen and their children wherever needed - waiting tables, washing dishes, and all the different areas needed to run a restaurant.

Today, Taipei continues the family tradition with their daughter Linh managing and operating Taipei - often with her children helping when they are home from college.
